Since 1993, the Taiwanese American Cultural Festival has grown into an annual landmark event for the Bay Area community, drawing thousands of visitors from all over the world to experience Taiwan’s unique cultural heritage and to recognize the contributions of Taiwanese Americans today.

Come join TAP-SF in a beginner-friendly coastal walk in Half Moon Bay! This walk will take us through a beautiful coastal trail, where you can enjoy stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the picturesque scenery of the beach! The walk is about two hours long, making it perfect for families, beginners, and anyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors without a strenuous workout. After the hike, we will meet for brunch at a local restaurant (TBD) in Downtown Half Moon Bay to enjoy food and great company. We look forward to seeing you there!

Parking: Parking lot itself will have very limited space, so try to park along the shoulder on Highway 1. For those coming northbound on Hwy 1, you might need to do a U-turn to park along the shoulder.

Native Plant Nursery Workday

Have a green thumb? If so, come join TAP-SF and Friends of Sausal Creek care for a native plant nursery in Oakland's Joaquin Miller Park on March 4th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Together, we will be sanitizing recycled pots, mulching for weed control, and pulling invasive species so they don't blow seeds into the nursery plants. There may also be an opportunity to propagate some plants under the instruction of the nursery's manager.

Elephant Seal Walk

Join TAP-SF for brunch followed by guided tour to see elephant seals at Año Nuevo State Park on Feb 11, 2023.
Journey to view a large colony of Northern Elephant Seals, guided by a naturalist on this moderate 3-mile, 2.5-hour adventure. Starting in December, male elephant seals arrive along the shore of Año Nuevo State Park to establish hierarchy, while pregnant females come ashore to give birth to their pups!

White Crowned Sparrow Habitat Restoration
Come join us to see the Bison and the birds! Volunteer with the Golden Gate Audubon Society and help to restore the habitat of the White-crowned sparrow. Please wear appropriate attire: closed-toe shoes, long pants and layers of clothing. Meet at the middle of the Bison Paddock fence located on John F Kennedy Drive between 36th Avenue and Chain of Lakes Drive East.

Wine, Hike & Picnic
Join us for a Wine Hike + Picnic on Saturday, November 5th! We'll meet at a trailhead before embarking on a 2-mile hike up to Pichetti Winery, where we can opt to do some wine tasting! Pack a lunch, because we'll follow up with lunch in Pichetti's lovely picnic grounds to fuel up for our hike back down.

BWYA/TAP-SF Pumpkin Carving
Let’s get together for Halloween festivities with some pumpkin carving and treats! This event is cohosted by BWYA and TAP-SF and will take place outdoors atop Alum Rock (Peacock Gap Dr) overlooking downtown San Jose. If you are new to pumpkin carving, no worries, we can provide you basic instructions, but it is quite straight forward and fun!

October TAPpy Hour
Join us for October TAPpy Hour, co-hosted with longtime TAP friend, Jon Fong! This month we'll be hanging out at Northern Ducks, a brand new dim sum karaoke lounge tucked inside the Twitter Building in downtown SF. Come with us as we check out this AAPI-owned, beautifully decorated bar that's been flying under the radar since the pandemic.

Friending For Grown-Ups!
Join TAP-SF for an engaging presentation by psychologist, Dr. Christine Chang, PhD, about how to make friends as an adult! In her presentation, she will cover a wide range of topics such as making friends, keeping friends, realistic expectations, and the impact of Taiwanese and Taiwanese American culture here. She will also lead us in interactive activities for us to participate in, such as pairing conversations.
After we learn tips for making new acquaintances and maintaining friendships as an adult from Dr. Christine Chang, come put the theory into practice by mingling and making new friends at our happy hour at Taksim! Afterwards, for those who want to keep hanging out, join us for dinner and drinks at a nearby restaurant, and possibly followed by other activities!

Dumpling Making Cooking Class with Chef Henry Hsu of Oramasama Dumplings
TAP-SF is partnering with Taiwanese Chef Henry Hsu of Oramasama Dumplings to bring you a personalized dumpling making workshop! At the event, you will learn how to make two distinct types of dumplings (including the dough for the skin!), eat everything you make, and take home your own dough to make more dumplings at home (show off to your friends and family!). Come learn about the Taiwan-specific ingredients we will use as well as the history, heritage, and culture behind these dumplings while connecting with others with full hearts and stomachs.

Lafayette Reservoir Hike
Join TAP-SF as we take on a moderately challenging hike around the scenic Lafayette Reservoir. There will be a short segment with an intense incline but the rest of the trail will be paved and easy to navigate, with roughly a third made up of dirt. The hike will be approximately 4 miles and 1.5 hours in duration. Bring sunblock and water as most portions do not have coverage.After the hike we will have brunch at nearby Lafayette Public House:

There will be plenty of parking spaces available at the Lafayette Reservoir but all parking is either metered or paid. Metered parking is $1.50/hour or $7 for all day parking.

Rock Climb & Hang with TAP-SF
Join TAP-SF for a fun afternoon of rock climbing and bouldering at Movement Santa Clara. Never climbed before? No worries! Two gym instructors will lead a 1.5 hour private lesson (3 - 4:30 pm) to guide us through rock climbing and bouldering basics. To ensure a more intimate experience, this climbing party will be capped at 10 people. The day pass for each person is $35, with all rentals included, and enables you to stay all day if you like. If you cannot join for the climb but would still like to hang out, afterwards we’ll go mingle at Yard House in Santana Row at around 5 pm, and possibly followed by dinner at Dumpling Time, so come on by!

TAP-SF x BWYA hike: Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve
Join TAP-SF & the Bliss & Wisdom Young Adults group for a fun morning hike at Skyline Ridge Preserve near Portola Valley. We will go on a 3.3 mile (718 ft elevation gain) moderately challenging loop trail that will take ~2 hours. If you'd like to carpool to the hike, please leave a message on the event page so we can coordinate rides. Meet at the Russian Ridge Preserve parking.
After the hike we will eat lunch at State Street Market in Los Altos and mingle! They have several options including “Taiwanese-Korean concept Bǎo Bèi by Meichih and Michael Kim (formerly of Palo Alto’s Michelin-starred Maum).”
